Updates and Reports
LFL Prosthetic Centre continued regular clinic sessions throughout 2023, with strict COVID-19 assessment protocols in place for patients, staff and volunteers.
We are pleased to announce that LFL Prostheses Centre has reopened, and we have resumed our Saturday clinic sessions as usual from January 2022.

The poor and under privileged amputees who apply for FREE prosthetic limbs at LFL Prostheses Centre must undergo an Eligibility Evaluation Process. Once the application is approved, the amputee must be seen by an Orthopedic Surgeon and/or a Rehabilitation Doctor to be certified fit for the prostheses. For this purpose, LFL is working in close collaboration with a team of 18 volunteer doctors from University Malaya Medical Centre and other hospitals led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Azlina Amir Abbas (President of Malaysian Orthopaedic Association) who offer FREE consultation to amputees every Saturday morning. These volunteer doctors also ensure that the prostheses fitted on the amputees are suitable and allow them to have a natural walking gait. The doctors also provide advice to amputees on how to care for their stumps and prosthetic limbs. To further support the amputees with stronger stump muscle development and movements, LFL workshop also provides extra physio therapy services at the same venue via two volunteer physio therapists.
